I Was Just Wondering -
Actually, I had never given much thought to most of the questions on that list, among many others, which has made the rounds of the Internet. Some are rather interesting though. Such as this one -
Why don’t you ever see the headline “Psychic Wins Lottery”?
Why don’t we see such a headline? Could it be (gasp) psychics aren’t really psychic? Could it be they’re actually, as the skeptics assert, keen observers of human nature? To a large extent, I believe this to be the case. And most all human beings are capable of picking up ‘vibes’ from those around them. Perhaps this ability is cultivated and raised to a higher level in so-called psychics.
I also believe there is a spiritual aspect to this subject, positive and negative. But I’ll save my thoughts about that aspect for another time.
Another question on that Internet list asks -
Why is it that to close Windows (of whatever variety you have on your computer) you have to click on “Start”?
Now this is one I and everyone else has actually wondered about. Does Bill Gates know the answer? I’m sure he must, why hasn’t he shared it with the rest of us? Of course, we all know you can close Windows by just clicking on the little X in the top right corner. But is it good to do that? We ourselves are programmed to do things by the instructions. What dire problem might be created when we shut down Windows the wrong way? Our computers crash often enough when we try to follow the rules. Help us out, here, Bill.
The next question I’m addressing here has implications other than pertaining to dishwashing liquid.
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Is it cheaper to make artificial lemon flavor in the laboratory? And all the other
artificial flavors we find if we take time to read the labels on the foods we purchase. What happened to all the real lemon (and other) flavors? Is it all used in making dishwashing liquid? Then why isn’t dishwashing liquid outrageously expensive? Granted, a bottle of it used to cost much more than I thought it was worth. But now it is fairly inexpensive. Even the ones whose labels assert that they contain ‘real lemon’.
As children we asked searching questions such as ‘”Why do the leaves turn from green to colors?’ ‘How do birds fly?’ Since we’ve learned the answers to those queries - ‘when the leaves receive less light in the shorter days of autumn, the chlorophyl in the sap retreats from the leaves, taking the green color with it,’ and ‘the flapping of a bird’s wings creates aerodynamic lift’, we must reflect on questions about psychics, computers, and artificial flavoring.
Please excuse me, I must get back to pondering those other deep questions on that list. If you have better answers, please let me know.
